Daniel Ludwig is a watercolor artist based in the desert Southwest. He was raised surrounded by the red rocks outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, spent his college years in Cedar City, Utah, and has lived in New Mexico most of his adult life. He is a self- taught artist who has been painting off and on for over 25 years.
As far as he's concerned, it doesn't get any better for a landscape painter than the Colorado Plateau. He travels this area searching for inspiration - sometimes drawn to structures, sometimes to the breathtaking landscape, most of the time showing a certain irreverence for his subjects. He is not concerned with being a serious artist, but focuses on having fun with his chosen medium and the chance it affords him to spend time in his beloved country.
Daniel hopes to involve the viewer in his paintings by suggesting the feeling or emotion of a place rather than recording in exact detail what he is observing. At times, exact forms are left up to the imagination.
The marketing and selling of his paintings are not his favorite part of the process, but it brings him great joy to put his paintings in the care of people who like them for the same reasons he painted them.
